Sinopsis
Over 90,000 animal species have been confirmed in Japan. Despite the country’s small size, some 38 million ha, repeated connections with and separations from the Eurasian Continent, its long, complex terrain stretching from north to south, high precipitation, four distinct seasons, disturbance caused by volcanic eruptions and river flooding, and human activities such as agriculture and forestry have created diverse habitats that support rich biodiversity.
All of the species are irreplaceable having evolved over the ages, and they have formed rich ecosystems by interacting with each other. The Wildlife in Japan is classified into the following 5 groups: Wildlife in Northland, Wildlife in Mountains, Wildlife in Rural Area, Wildlife in Wetlands and Wildlife in Subtropics.
