In 2022, Queensland’s koalas were reclassified from\r\nvulnerable to endangered at both a state and national\r\nlevel. Their specialised diet and habitat requirements mean\r\nthey need large areas of high-quality eucalypt bushland\r\nfor feeding, mating, and dispersal. Protecting, restoring,\r\nimproving and connecting koala habitat is therefore\r\nessential to conserving our iconic koala populations.\r\nThis can be achieved through the ongoing delivery of\r\nsuccessful habitat restoration projects, such as tree\r\nplanting, and improving the koala habitat regulation\r\nframework. This approach makes sure we not only\r\nprotect existing high-quality habitat but also restore and\r\nrevegetate cleared areas that once provided food and\r\nshelter for koalas.
