The Danish economy has demonstrated unusual strength in recent years. The de\r\nvelopment has been quite remarkable with high GDP growth, continued job crea\r\ntion, public budget surpluses, and a high and resilient level of activity without any\r\nnotable signs of macroeconomic imbalances.\r\nThe positive developments in the labour market are particularly linked to a signifi\r\ncant increase in employment among seniors and resident immigrants, as well as a\r\nsubstantial inflow of international labour, including from Ukraine and EU coun\r\ntries. At the same time, Danish businesses have performed strongly on international\r\nmarkets, increasing their exports despite a general stagnation in global trade.\r\nThis strong economic performance has contributed to Denmark recording the larg\r\nest budget surplus in the EU over the past six years – amounting in total to more\r\nthan DKK 500 billion, equivalent to 20 percent of GDP. This positive develop\r\nment, combined with implemented reforms, has supported sound and sustainable\r\npublic finances.
