The Human Rights and Business Country Guide provides country-specific guidance to help companies respect human rights and contribute to sustainable development. To effectively manage their potential human rights impacts, companies need comprehensive information about the local human rights context in which they operate. The Country Guide offers a systematic overview of key human rights issues that companies should be particularly aware of.
For each issue, the Guide provides practical guidance on how companies can respect human rights in their own operations, as well as in collaboration with suppliers and other business partners. More than just a resource, the Country Guide is also a process. It was developed through a systematic survey conducted by the Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) and the Nicaraguan Union for Corporate Social Responsibility (UNIRSE). The aim of the Guide is to improve corporate human rights practices, including through evidence-based dialogue on the issues presented.
