E-Book Mapping Gender Studies and Research in Egypt: Current Status and Future Prospects
Gender studies intersect with several fields of the social and human sciences. They open new spheres for measuring, interpreting, and creating data that can inform inclusive and transformative policies and bring about a necessary sustainable development. Egypt has a long history of feminism; however, the creation of women’s and gender studies programs is relatively recent as it only started to take place few years ago. Hence, this publication aims to review the significance of these programs and assess their role in advancing gender equality as well as the ways they have added new dimensions to knowledge and research methodologies. Through this report, the reader will immerse themselves in several topics. More specifically, the researchers as presented in this report will explore new dimensions in their analysis and therefore enable them to generate policy recommendations that are nondiscriminatory and inclusive. Therefore, this publication shows that the role of gender studies is not confined to increasing awareness about women’s issues and gender equality, but it also means that these programs contribute to accelerate the social and economic transformations.
