THIS book introduces the documentary heritage inscriptions from Africa on the Memory of the World International Register up to 2023. Its publication was made possible thanks to the collective expertise and efforts of the members of the Africa Regional Committee for Memory of the World (ARCMoW), the custodians of the Memory of the World inscriptions across Africa, the national Memory of the World committees and the National Commissions for UNESCO in Africa. A full list of custodians who contributed to the publication can be found in the Appendix. UNESCO is also particularly grateful to Papa Momar Diop, Helena Asamoah-Hassan and Brenda Mamvura for their review of the texts. It is hoped that future editions of this publication will feature additional inscriptions from the region.
