The driving force behind this work came from the absence of textile material in Finnish architecture. The goal of this thesis is to bring together the information on architecture and textile and put together a package of information
to support the use of architextiles in architecture. The study concentrates on the matter on a general level. The information is meant to serve several fields of specialists related to this matter. A concept for a textile architecture
event concludes the learnt material. Leafi ng through the architecture and design magazines at the beginning of my architecture studies in Tampere University of Technology, textile and fashion started to appear side by side with architecture. Shapes were borrowed from the construction and vehicle industries, from structures, cars, boats, even from aeroplanes. Metal and wood were used as construction materials for clothing.
